Planets and Solar Revolutions is a mobile work that slowly spins by means of a motor. The work consists of tufts of yarn, nylon line and five caps with varied black and white patterns in plastic, composed according to how light and shadow fall on the planets depending on their position around the sun. The caps are a metaphor for the planets as well as the shape of the human head and human existence in the universe.

The background to the work is people’s relationship to language and identity: the Italian word for head is testa which refers to ideas and thinking. In German the word for head is kopf, referring to the outer shape of the skull. This leads to questions about how images in language reflect cultural behavior
