ABOUT Karin Häll english

ABOUT

Karin Häll works with sculpture, drawing and installationart. The starting point is often words or situations she finds in literature and which she connects to habitual behaviors and social phenomena around us. Häll is interested of how human can experience itself: the constant change of identity in relation to the signals and tendencies of the outside world, the social codes and contexts. Her artworks have several bottoms.

Häll is consistently using the meanings of different materials: their value charge and function in relation to varied objects and objects. Subtle placements load the room and give wellknown situations underlying sentences. The artpieces seem to converse with the Swedish poet Sonja Åkesson’s everyday life poetry as well as with ancient legends.

Karin Häll is educated at Konstfack, Department of Art / Sculpture, MFA and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm. Her work has been shown in several galleries and art galleries in and outside Sweden. In recent years, we can mention Passagen, Linköping Art Gallery, Art in the River, Norrtälje Art Gallery, Alma Löv Museum, Hilbert Raum, Berlin, Katarina Church, Stockholm, Gallery Huuto, Helsinki and more.

Karin Häll is represented at, among others, the Drawing Museum in Laholm and has been awarded several of grants.
